1950's and 60's rotorcraft are hard to find as well detailed kits. The veteran kits take a lot of work upgrading, if they can be found and afforded on internet sites.

So now I've got the Blenheim finished, I thought I could just get this one finished before the end of October. I plan to build it out of the box, and use the decals for KG 55, as I liked the graffiti on the tail.

In the box it looks good, with a lot of cockpit detail, full bomb module detail (better than the much more expensive Hasegawa kit), but no bombs to put in them. Undercarriage and bays look good, but for a change the tyres aren't flattened. The surface detail is nicely restrained, and all control surfaces are separate, including the flaps which can be built lowered.

The kit and reference I will be using

I've made a start tonight and pretty quickly got the first 5 stages done, which involved cockpit fitting out. All went together fine, and a test fit of the fuselage halves showed no problems. I gave the main interior two coats of RLM 02 and the cockpit two of RLM 66 (or in this case Humbrol 67 Panzer Grey). After some detail painting and weathering I'll button it up.

I would love to see Airfix re-release the 1/72 Britten Nroman Islander / Defender.

I made one (badly) as a kid in the 1970s and would love to have another go now that I am older and wiser and better at maknig models (sort of...)

why hasnt this wee classic been a starter kit like most of the other old cars. come to think of it wasnt there a 280sl mercedes also.

would love to see the sprite get an engine under the bonnet too.

A reissue of this Gerry Anderson fan favorite would surely be a hit with anyone who was familiar with the show or if they missed the kit the first time around. Aqua Marina.

Hi fellas! No internet for a few days, but back on now. So I can get my thread started...

canopy to mask next and we're ready for some paint! I have noticed that the leading edge of the tail is off centre to the left. Is this normal for hurricanes?

New Community Build Anyone?

Would anyone be interested in a new community build? I was thinking same rules as the last BoB Community build (to last about 3 months, or to the end of the year).

Some subjects to consider could be;

1.As the 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor is approaching, why not a Pacific War theme?

2. Aircraft and equipment of Bomber Command and the German nightfighter force.

3. Aircraft of Coastal Command/ Battle of the Antantic.

4. Aircraft of the Cold War

5. A general WW I or WW II theme.

If anyone is genuinely interested please add a comment with the theme that interests you.

This wouldn't be a highly regimented thing, just a bit of fun to show off your Airfix builds.

From were I'm coming this kitstarter idea is wrong.

Who wants to build an old mould kit whre novel kits (see e.q. Airfix 1/72 spitfires) are available.

One suggestion that might help is this: Why not add some of the old decals to recent kits. E.g. take a 1/72 B-17, add the beautifull A Bit o'Lace decals to it and release this kit using state of the art moulds. We can rethink many modern mould kits with some extra decals that brings back our childhood.
