Hi. I'm thinking of sending in my flying hours passport to claim a "free" kit, but the website only shows 2 options for paying the postage; cheque or postal order? I mean.....this is 2024 not 1994....who uses either of those any more?

Are those really the only two payment methods they accept for this particular offer? If so, it's a bit rubbish considering they've happily taken my debit card payment for other purchases.

Hey there, I wondered if there had been any news about the Airfix Club in 2026? Any insight on what model it may well be?

Possible themes

There is a conversation going on between the Hornby and Airfix guys about how the Club(s) could be developed. One suggestion was a subscription sub-club, possibly for new modellers or those returning to the hobby(s) who may not have developed a stash and may wish to try modelling different genres to test the water as it were.

Starter themes might include a series of kits that could be built. or used, in a particular setting. For example - Airfield Control Tower, Refuelling set, RAF Personnel, Tiger Moth, and Chipmunk - 5 kits, 4 genres, 1 simple airfield diorama.

On a similar theme - Harrier, Bedford refueller, Land Rover & Trailer, NATO Personnel - a Cold War setting. Add an especially commissioned Amera vac formed base and maybe scatter materials. How far could that be taken? Even added to a model railway diorama.

What are your thoughts. Are there particular groups of kits that would go together in a theme? Maybe themes is not the way and you might make another suggestion. Remember, there are no right or wrong answers and the only stupid suggestion is the one you should have made, but didn't...

I'm curious, I've been "harvesting" the flying hours I have on my stash and as I have 5 1/24th scale I would start with them as I foolishly as it turns out assumed that they would have the biggest numbers however I was shocked to find out the Harrier Gr-3 had 9 but some of them only had 3 whereas the 1/48th scale Martin Rb-57 I have had 4 so does anyone know the rational behind it?

I'm reasonably new here, (well, new to the forum, not new in real life, anything but) so I don't know if this is breaking any rules, but after placing an order a few minutes ago I wanted to just point out something possibly of interest. I originally tried to add the code of what Airfix mailed me today as a Summer treat/discount, £15 off £75 purchase. I'm sure we all had one. Anyway, originally I was trying to put the discount code for £15 off into the checkout, but because of the Club Discount of 10% it was having none of it.

However, I then changed the items in my basket, instead putting in the Mystery Aircraft Bundle, (£89.99) and then entered the £15 discount code and hey presto, because it was higher the Club Discount vanished, replaced by the £15 off discount. I then proceeded to put the original items back in the basket, (the Club Sale 1/48 JU-87 at £26.67 and the VE Day 80th Bundle of a Spitfire, Hurricane, both 1/48, and VE Day Coin £49.99) and suddenly the £15 discount and the Club Discount were both being used.

My ever-so slightly devious mind then wondered, what would happen if I took out the Mystery Aircraft Bundle? So I removed it, expecting the £15 off or Club Discount to vanish. However, instead the checkout showed the £15 off was still applied, but also the Club Discount was taking off £2.67 too. It seems that the £15 off was applied solely to the VE Day Bundle and that left the Club Discount to give 10% off the Stuka. I tried it again with just the Mystery Aircraft Bundle but that only reduced it by the £15.

Anyway, being ever the penny-pincher, but also in hopes it might work for other folk, I thought I'd leave this less than tiny note. I know, it was only an extra £2.67 off, but hey, these days who doesn't love a bit more cash off something. Maybe it will work with other items in the Club Sale, maybe it was because the true cost of the VE Day Bundle was close to £75 alone before being reduced, I just don't know. However, there it is, more bang, less bucks. Good hunting 🙂

This kit contains two schemes, both representing the same aircraft before and after it was captured by the RAF. On 27th November 1943, the aircraft took off from Perugia on a photographic reconnaissance flight over the Naples area. The aircraft suffered a technical fault, and the pilot decided to make an emergency landing at the nearest airfield, Monte Corvino which the Allies had captured a few months earlier. The occupying British forces captured the aircraft, which was in perfect flyable condition and the two crewmen became prisoners of war.

It received the serial ‘TF209’ and made its first flight under its new identity on 1st May 1944, flown by the RAE’s chief test pilot, Squadron Leader Roland ‘Roly’ Falk. In August 1944, the aircraft was flown to the Fighter Interception Unit at RAF Wittering, undertaking comparative trials against the RAF’s de Havilland Mosquito. Ranked at skill level 2, the 1:72 scale Messerschmitt Me410A-3 was tooled in 2023 and features 143 parts, with a wingspan of 226mm and an overall length of 175mm.

Does the airfix club membership last a whole year from the date of purchase? Or does it run 2024-2025.

	Thanks

Got an email a few weeks ago reminding me my subscription was due. I've been waiting nearer the time, and its a couple of weeks to go so thought I'd renew it now. Good job I did because as my current subscription is still active, I got 10% off 🙂 Bonus!

So the moral is renew while its active and dont let it expire!

New here! Apologies if this has been asked before; I have not been able to find it:

Is the 80th anniversary of D-Day special model kit duo (1:72 Hawker Typhoon Mk.IB + Supermarine Spitfire PR.XIX) available to Airfix USA (ROW) members? If so, can anyone provide a link? many thanks!

	All best wishes,

	Tom

Odd title I know but I have just added the Airfix Club membership to my basket at £35.00 and it said continue shopping and if I spend another £5.00 I get a free pair of socks

So, try as I may I cannot add anything more to my basket as it contains a membership ... Is this normal? (or is there a sneaky way around this so I can get s free pair of socks!)

I would like to caveat this by saying I do have plenty of clean socks without holes in them so I'm not entirely desperate ... I just like the look of them ... and they're free 🙂

	Cheers
